I’m Katherine, and from a very young age I have been animal obsessed! My first pet. Aged 5, was a rabbit called Peter. I then kept mice, rats, and chickens throughout my childhood and we got our first family cats, ted and lily, when I was 13. When I moved out I started my own cat family, all of which have been rescues. I currently have 4 - my old boy thomas, and 3 Cyprus moggies, goose, Gatsby and 3-legged maX.
Animals haven’t just been in my home life. In my teenage years I did volunteer work at a local rspca cat rehoming centre and then in 2017 I completed my city and guilds level 2 in dog grooming. I started working as an assistant dog grooming stylist, training to become a stylist and then a salon manager in several busy dog grooming salons in Kent for 5 years.
I sadly had to give up my grooming career due to health reasons - lifting 50kg dogs is not for the faint hearted! I went into a customer service role after that, but really missed being around animals. Whilst coming to the end of maternity leave after having my daughter, I decided to step back into the pet industry and started the kath’s whiskers, offering pet sitting and dog walking. I know from a personal point of view how important it is that your pets are well looked after and loved whilst you are away from home.
At home, as well as our 4 cats, I live with my fiancé, Charlie, and our daughter, Elizabeth. It is a busy household but I wouldn’t have it any other way! When I get the time, I enjoy reading, baking, photography, playing the piano and drinking lots of coffee!
